Paving Access for Veterans Employment
Paralyzed Veterans of America’s employment program, PAVE, offers high-touch, one-on-one support to the veteran community to help them find meaningful opportunities. This unique program supports the entire veteran community, but specializes in those who have significant barriers to employment, such as a catastrophic injury. The program assists with everything from resume development to instilling the confidence that is necessary in the job search. PAVE staff have successfully assisted more than 4,300 individuals.

PAVE supports the entire veteran community including transitioning service members, veterans, spouses, caregivers, and military survivors
PAVE specializes in assisting individuals with significant barriers to employment including
Catastrophic injury or illness
History of substance abuse
We engage our clients to assist with resume development, interviewing and networking skills, LinkedIn profile, etc.
PAVE has 5 certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and 2 employment Analysts strategically located across the country: Georgia, Virginia, Minnesota, California, and Texas.
PAVE has assisted more than 4,300 individuals since the program launched in 2007.
More than 80% of those we assist stay in their job for more than a year; a 2016 study showed that only 66% of the veteran community stay in their first job for a year.
PAVE Counselors have the skills needed to assist those with significant barriers to work, a mission that few other veteran employment programs are willing or able to undertake.
PAVE is a LOVE not “like” organization: we would rather fully support impact the lives of our clients, even if it means targeting a smaller group, than have a cursory affect on 10,000 veterans.

Veteran Employment Landscape
Underemployment of the entire veteran community remains high.
1/3 of post 9/11 veterans state that they are employed below their objective skill level, a rate 15.6% higher than non-veteran job seekers.
More than 65% percent of the post-9/11 population said that they needed meaningful help finding a job.
More than 62% of veterans with a service connected disability rating of 60% or higher choose not to rejoin the workforce or struggle to find a civilian job.
Lack of employment or regular engagement (i.e., volunteer opportunities) can lead to increased rates of depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and other mental health issues
